App Community Guidelines
Ten Percent Performance — Community Guidelines
Effective date: 4 November 2026 Version: 1.1
The community feed is for the members of one gym. Everybody on it trains in the same room. These guidelines are part of the app's Terms of Service.
1. Who sees what you post
Before anything else, know this:
- Your first name and last initial are shown on your post, along with what you wrote and any photo on it. That is the same as the class roster, and it is what section 5.5 of the member agreement says you consent to. The feed showed full names until 4 November 2026.
- Every active member of Ten Percent Performance can see it. Coaches, admins and the owner can too.
- Posting sends a notification to the rest of the gym, and that notification carries your post's text. It can appear on someone's lock screen.
- You can delete your own post at any time. Deleting it does not pull back a notification already delivered, and if someone reported your post, a copy of the text is kept with the report.
Treat the feed as public to the gym. If you would not say it out loud in the gym, do not post it.
2. What to post
Good stuff, and most of what is already there:
- A win. A PR, a first pull-up, a milestone, a session you nearly skipped and did anyway.
- Encouragement for someone else's win.
- Something practical: a question about a class, a bit of kit, a schedule change.
- A photo of yourself training, or a photo you have the right to post.
3. What not to post
Do not give other members medical advice. This is the one we care most about. Do not tell another member what their pain is, what is wrong with them, what to take, what to stop taking, whether to see a doctor or whether they can skip one. You might be right and it still is not your call. Say "that happened to me, here's what I did" if you like — but do not diagnose, prescribe or treat. Nobody on the feed is anyone's clinician.
The same goes for nutrition and supplement prescriptions for other people, extreme diets, fasting protocols, weight-loss drugs and anything aimed at losing weight fast.
Do not post anyone else's image without their permission. No photo, video, screen recording or recognisable likeness of another member — in the background of your mirror selfie included — unless you have asked them and they said yes. If someone asks you to take their picture down, take it down.
Do not post other people's private information. Not their phone number, email, address, injuries, weight, health information, what they are working on with their coach, or anything they told you in confidence. Nothing about a member who is not on the app.
Do not post, full stop:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation or targeted abuse.
- Slurs or attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or body size.
- Sexual content, nudity, or sexualised comment about another member.
- Body shaming, including about your own body in a way that is aimed at others', and "before and after" framing that puts someone else down.
- Content that promotes self-harm, disordered eating, purging or restriction.
- Spam, chain posts, affiliate links, other gyms' promotions, or selling things.
- Recruiting members for your own coaching, products or business.
- Anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to post — including copyrighted photos, music or text that is not yours.
- Impersonating a coach, a member or TPP.
- Repeated complaints about another named member. Take that to Pete, not the feed.
A word filter blocks some language automatically. If a post is refused, it is not personal — reword it and try again. The app deliberately does not tell you which word tripped it.
4. Photos
- Photos of yourself: fine, with the same rules as above.
- Photos with other people in them: only with their permission.
- Photos of children: only your own child, and only with your own judgement about what belongs in front of a hundred and fifty adults. Somebody else's child, including another member's, needs that parent's permission first — being in the same class is not permission. The gym has members as young as eleven, and a photo of a class can contain a child you did not notice. If one does, check before you post.
- If you are under 18, do not post photographs of yourself. Everything you post is visible to every member of the gym, and that is a decision for an adult to make about themselves.
- Camera metadata, including any GPS coordinates, is stripped from every photo you upload through the app. The photo itself is still visible to the whole gym.
Note on photos TPP uses: section 4 of the member agreement covers TPP using photographs and video of you in its own marketing — its social media, website, app, emails and ads. That is separate from this feed, and posting here is not what gives TPP that permission; the agreement does. You can switch it off at any time by telling your coach, in any way that reaches them (member agreement, section 4.7), and you can ask for a particular photo to be taken down (section 4.8).
Posting a photo here does not hand TPP the right to use it in marketing. If TPP wants to use something you posted, a coach asks you first.
5. Reporting and blocking
Both of these are in the app, on the "..." menu on anyone else's post.
Report this post — sends the post to Pete, with your name and whatever reason you give. The post's text is copied onto the report, so the author deleting it does not destroy the record. Use it for anything that breaks these guidelines.
Block this member — you stop seeing that member's posts.
How blocking works, exactly:
- It is your setting. It changes only what you see.
- The member you blocked is never told. Their posts are untouched for everyone else.
- Nothing else changes for either of you. You may still be in the same class; blocking is not a gym matter and it does not keep you apart in the room.
- You can unblock at any time.
- Coaches' posts and the gym's own announcements cannot be blocked.
If somebody is making the gym unsafe or unpleasant for you, blocking them on the feed is not the answer on its own. Tell Pete.
6. Moderation and what happens next
- Pete and TPP's coaches moderate the feed. There is no outside moderation team and no automated moderation beyond the word filter.
- Reports go to Pete, and he looks at every one within seven days. Usually much sooner — it is one gym, not a queue.
- You are told what happened. If you report a post, Pete comes back to you with the outcome. You will not be left wondering whether anybody read it.
- We may remove a post that breaks these guidelines, with or without a report.
- We may contact you about it, and for most things that is all that happens — a quiet word and the post comes down.
- For repeated or serious breaches we may stop you posting, suspend or close your app account, and in a serious case end your gym membership. Harassment of another member, posting someone's health information or posting someone's image after being asked not to are the kinds of things that go straight to the serious end.
- Anything unlawful may be reported to the authorities.
- Serious safety concerns are acted on immediately and we will explain afterwards.
If you think a removal or a suspension was wrong, say so — email info@tenpercentperformancenj.com or tell Pete at the gym. He reviews it himself and answers within seven days. He is also the last word on it: TPP is one gym, not an appeals system, and it would be dishonest to imply there is somebody above him to go to.
7. If you see something
- Report the post.
- Block the member if you want them out of your feed.
- Tell a coach or Pete if it is about safety, someone's health information, or a member's image being posted without permission.
- If you think someone is in danger, do not wait for the app. Call 911.
